Kenny Davern was a legendary American jazz clarinetist and saxophonist, born on January 7, 1935, in Huntington, Long Island, USA. Inspired by the great Pee Wee Russell, Davern dedicated his life to the clarinet, becoming a master of Dixieland and traditional jazz. His career spanned over five decades, during which he captivated audiences worldwide with his distinctive, liquid tones and electrifying solos. In 1979, he devoted himself entirely to the clarinet, leading numerous ensembles and leaving an indelible mark on the jazz scene. Davern's prolific career and technical brilliance made him a standout figure in jazz, with an ear for new sounds that kept his music fresh and exciting. He passed away on December 12, 2006, in Sandia Park, New Mexico, leaving behind a rich legacy that continues to inspire jazz enthusiasts and musicians alike.
