It's amazing how a regular club cut turned into something many folks think is the pinnacle with Master Of Puppets, and I gotta say, they've got a point. Like others mentioned, the mastering/cutting here is noticeably different from the standard version. While the standard one is mastered loud, this one's made to be played loud, and it truly shines when you crank it up. The balance of bass, guitar, and drums is spot on, just like all original US pressings. It's absolutely worth all the buzz.
I recently acquired a copy that doesn't match any of the versions listed on Discogs. It's somewhat similar to this one, but my copy features a stamped (not etched) code in the run-out groove that says BLCKNDS 005R-A on side one and BLCKNDS 005R-B on side two. And yes, there's an extra 'S' after BLCKND on both sides. Apart from that, my version doesn't have any other notable differences compared to what's described here. Any ideas?

Does anyone have any insights?
This is a fantastic quality record — it's incredibly quiet and the audio is superb. The low end is rich and well-managed, and the soundstage is remarkably broad for a Metallica album. It's way better than any digital copy out there. I wasn't immediately wowed, but like others have said, you just need to bump up the volume a tad more than you normally would. But that's not a problem at all since the vinyl is so well-made that you can turn it up as loud as you want without any extra hiss or noise.
This is a fantastic pressing with superb sound quality and no background noise. The bass is rich and well-managed, and the soundstage is remarkably spacious for a Metallica album. It's far superior to any digital copy out there. I wasn't immediately impressed, but like many others have mentioned, you just need to turn up the volume a tad more than you normally would. But that's not a problem at all, since the vinyl is of such high caliber that you can blast it without any concern for extra noise.
