Ulf Linde
Ulf Linde (1929-2013) was a multifaceted Swedish artist whose talents spanned across music, art criticism, and academia. Born in Stockholm, Linde was an accomplished jazz musician, known for his skills on the vibraphone and trumpet, and his contributions to the genre as a composer. His musical journey began in the late 1940s, and he went on to perform and compose in the jazz and Swedish ballad genres. Beyond music, Linde was a renowned art critic, museum director, and professor, playing a pivotal role in the early years of Moderna Museet. He was also a member of the prestigious Swedish Academy and the Royal Swedish Art Academy. Linde's intellectual pursuits were vast, encompassing languages, mathematics, and philosophy, making him an erudite autodidact. Notably, he produced the first authorized replica of Marcel Duchamp's iconic "Large Glass" in 1961, showcasing his deep engagement with the art world.
