      Album Details

Eric Heidsieck, a distinguished French pianist and student of the legendary Alfred Cortot, presents a captivating collection of 19th-century piano concertos in "XIXème siècle: Grands concertos, vol. 9". Released in 1962 under the BNF Collection label, this classical piano album spans 54 minutes and showcases Heidsieck's mastery of the instrument through two iconic concertos.

The album opens with Camille Saint-Saëns' Concerto No. 1 in E Minor, Op. 11, a work that exemplifies the composer's lyrical and virtuosic style. Heidsieck navigates the concerto's three movements with aplomb, from the majestic opening Allegro to the lively Rondo. The second half of the album features Franz Liszt's Concerto No. 1 in E-Flat Major, S.124, a monumental work that demands both technical prowess and poetic sensitivity. Heidsieck's interpretation is marked by its clarity and depth, bringing out the richness of Liszt's harmonies and the brilliance of his pianistic writing.

Heidsieck's performances are not merely displays of technical skill; they are imbued with a deep understanding of the music and a keen sense of its historical context. His playing is characterized by its elegance, precision, and expressive nuance, making this album a valuable addition to any classical music collection. Whether you're a seasoned concertgoer or a newcomer to the world of classical piano, Eric Heidsieck's "XIXème siècle: Grands concertos, vol. 9" offers a rewarding and enriching listening experience.
