      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Henryk Wieniawski's violin concertos with this exquisite album, featuring the renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman and the London Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Seiji Ozawa. Released in 2015 by Warner Classics, this album showcases Wieniawski's two most celebrated violin concertos, No. 1 in F-Sharp Minor, Op. 14, and No. 2 in D Minor, Op. 22.

Wieniawski, a pupil of Massart at the Paris Conservatoire, was a virtuoso violinist whose compositions are celebrated for their technical brilliance and expressive depth. This album offers a masterful interpretation of his concertos, each movement meticulously crafted to highlight the virtuosity of both the soloist and the orchestra.

The first concerto, composed in 1853, is a tour de force of romantic virtuosity, with its Allegro moderato opening movement, the lyrical Preghiera. Larghetto, and the lively Rondo. Allegro giocoso. The second concerto, completed in 1862, is equally demanding and rewarding, featuring the Allegro moderato, the haunting Romance. Allegro non troppo, and the fiery Allegro con fuoco - Allegro moderato.

With a total duration of just over 50 minutes, this album is a testament to Wieniawski's enduring legacy and Perlman's unparalleled artistry. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.
