      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating choral artistry of the Yale Schola Cantorum with their upcoming album, "Weir: In the Land of Uz & Beach: The Canticle of the Sun," set to release on June 6, 2025, under the prestigious Hyperion label. This 59-minute journey through sacred and contemplative music is a testament to the ensemble's exceptional vocal prowess and interpretive depth.

The album is divided into two distinct yet complementary sections. The first, "In the Land of Uz" by Judith Weir, is a profound and dramatic exploration of the biblical story of Job. Through seven movements, the Yale Schola Cantorum navigates the depths of human suffering, doubt, and ultimately, faith. Each track builds upon the last, creating a powerful narrative that resonates with timeless themes of resilience and redemption.

The second part of the album, "The Canticle of the Sun" by Gerald Beach, is a joyous and uplifting celebration of nature and divine praise. Inspired by Saint Francis of Assisi's famous canticle, this seven-movement work is a radiant display of choral harmony and lyrical beauty. The Yale Schola Cantorum's performance is both reverent and exuberant, capturing the spirit of gratitude and wonder that lies at the heart of this sacred text.

With their precise musicianship and emotional resonance, the Yale Schola Cantorum delivers a performance that is both intellectually stimulating and spiritually uplifting. "Weir: In the Land of Uz & Beach: The Canticle of the Sun" is a remarkable addition to the choral repertoire, showcasing the ensemble's ability to bring complex and meaningful works to life with clarity and passion.
