      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of classical chamber music with Sabine Meyer's exquisite album, "Weber, Mendelssohn, Bärmann: Chamber Music for Clarinet." Released in 2002 under Warner Classics, this collection showcases the virtuosity of Sabine Meyer, accompanied by the renowned Academy of St Martin in the Fields, conducted by Kenneth Sillito.

The album spans a rich 57 minutes, featuring 13 tracks that blend the timeless compositions of Carl Maria von Weber, Felix Mendelssohn, and Heinrich Joseph Baermann. The centerpiece is Weber's Clarinet Quintet in B flat, Op. 34, a four-movement masterpiece that unfolds with a lively Allegro, a dreamy Fantasia, a spirited Menuetto Capriccio, and a playful Rondo. Mendelssohn's Concert Pieces No. 1 and No. 2 add depth and variety, each consisting of three contrasting movements that highlight the clarinet's expressive range. Baermann's Clarinet Quintet No. 3 in E-Flat Major, Op. 23, rounds out the album with its elegant and dynamic movements, including the beautifully orchestrated Adagio.

Sabine Meyer's masterful clarinet playing, combined with the refined accompaniment of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, brings these works to life with clarity, passion, and technical brilliance. Whether you're a seasoned classical enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album offers a rewarding listening experience that celebrates the beauty and versatility of the clarinet in chamber music.
