      Album Details

Dive into the enchanting world of William Lloyd Webber's "Invocation," a captivating collection of classical chamber music released in 1998 under the prestigious Chandos label. This album, spanning a concise yet engaging 62 minutes, showcases the composer's versatility and mastery of the genre, offering a blend of serene melodies and stirring compositions that highlight his unique voice in the classical music landscape.

The album opens with the "Serenade for Strings," a three-movement piece that sets a tranquil tone with its delicate "Barcarolle" and romantic "Romance," culminating in the poignant "Elegy." Following this, the title track "Invocation" and the reflective "Lento" provide a sense of intimacy and introspection. The "Three Spring Miniatures" add a touch of whimsy and lightness, with pieces like "Gossamer" and "Tree Tops" evoking images of nature's beauty and the changing seasons.

"Invocation" also features several larger-scale works, including the orchestral "Aurora - Tone Poem For Orchestra" and the sacred choral pieces from the "Mass, 'Princeps pacis'." These works demonstrate Lloyd Webber's ability to compose for both small ensembles and larger forces, showcasing his versatility and depth as a composer.

Performances on the album are led by renowned artists such as Tasmin Little, Julian Lloyd Webber, and the City of London Sinfonia, conducted by Richard Hickox. Their interpretations bring out the nuances and subtleties in Lloyd Webber's compositions, making this album a standout in the chamber music genre. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, "Invocation" offers a rich and rewarding listening experience that highlights the beauty and diversity of William Lloyd Webber's musical vision.
