      Album Details

Vincent Persichetti's "Choral Works" is a captivating collection of his renowned compositions, released in 1993 under the New World Records label. This album is a testament to Persichetti's significant contributions to choral music, featuring a blend of sacred and secular works that showcase his mastery of the genre.

The album opens with the Winter Cantata (Cantata No. 2), a twelve-movement choral piece that evokes the serene and introspective moods of winter. Each track, from "Copper Pheasant" to "Epilogue," paints a vivid picture of the season, with the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia and Tamara Brooks delivering a stunning performance.

Following the Winter Cantata, the album presents Persichetti's Mass, Op. 84, a traditional a cappella Mass that highlights the composer's ability to blend orthodox choral traditions with his unique style. The Mass is divided into five movements: Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei, each offering a profound and moving musical experience.

The album concludes with "LOVE for Women's Chorus," a beautiful and tender piece that adds a touch of warmth and intimacy to the collection.

With a total duration of 40 minutes, "Choral Works" is a concise yet powerful exploration of Vincent Persichetti's choral compositions. The album is a must-listen for fans of choral music and those interested in the works of this influential American composer. The performances by the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia and Tamara Brooks are exceptional, bringing Persichetti's music to life with skill and passion.
