About Jan Baptist Verrijt

Jan Baptist Verrijt, a Dutch composer and organist of significant renown, was born around 1600 in Oirschot and passed away in 1650 in Rotterdam. Often mentioned alongside Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Verrijt's contributions to music are notable and enduring. He began his career in Weert, serving as an organist and underschoolmaster from 1627 to 1629, before moving on to Thorn.
