      Album Details

"Tre Voci: Takemitsu / Debussy / Gubaidulina" is a captivating chamber music album released by the esteemed violist Kim Kashkashian, alongside flautist Marina Piccinini and harpist Sivan Magen. This ensemble, formed after meeting at the Marlboro Music Festival in 2010, presents a stunning collection of works by three renowned composers, each offering a unique voice in the classical repertoire.

The album, released on ECM New Series in 2014, features five tracks that span a total of 51 minutes. It opens with Toru Takemitsu's evocative "And Then I Knew 't Was Wind," a piece that showcases the delicate interplay between the flute, viola, and harp. The sonata for Flute, Viola & Harp by Claude Debussy follows, with its three movements offering a blend of pastoral serenity and lively energy. The album concludes with Sofia Gubaidulina's "Garten von Freuden und Traurigkeiten," a profound and introspective piece that highlights the ensemble's exceptional musicality.

Kim Kashkashian, who won a Grammy in 2013 for her solo viola album, brings her distinctive touch to this collaboration. Marina Piccinini and Sivan Magen, both acclaimed for their innovative approaches to their instruments, complete the trio, delivering a performance that is both technically impressive and deeply expressive.

"Tre Voci" is a testament to the power of collaboration and the beauty of chamber music. The album is a delight for classical music enthusiasts and those seeking to explore the rich tapestry of works by Takemitsu, Debussy, and Gubaidulina. The recording, made in April 2013 at the Auditorio Radiotelevisione, captures the ensemble's nuanced performances with clarity and warmth, providing an immersive listening experience.
