      Album Details

Toshio Hosokawa's "Orchestral Works, Vol. 1" is a captivating exploration of experimental music, released on March 4, 2014, under the Naxos label. This album spans 59 minutes and features three distinct compositions, each offering a unique auditory experience. The centerpiece is the Horn Concerto, titled "Moment of Blossoming," where Hosokawa imaginatively portrays the solo horn as a lotus flower and the orchestra as the cosmos, creating a mesmerizing interplay between the soloist and the ensemble. The album also includes "Lotus Under the Moonlight" and "Chant," further showcasing Hosokawa's innovative approach to orchestral music. Conducted by Jun Märkl and performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra with Stefan Dohr on horn, this collection is a testament to Hosokawa's ability to blend traditional and experimental elements, resulting in a rich and immersive listening experience.
