Time & Tide - Mike Murley

      Album Details

Mike Murley's 1992 release, "Time & Tide," is a standout hard bop album that showcases the saxophonist's impressive talents. Recorded in March 1992 at Jazz Partners Studio in Toronto, this album is a testament to Murley's skill and creativity. The album features eight tracks, including the haunting "The Split," a standout composition with a simple minor-key melody that evolves into a groove reminiscent of Coltrane's work in 1963. Other notable tracks include the remastered versions of "Time and Tide," "Four Beats in a Row," and "Blues for Nelson Mandela."

The album, released under Cornerstone Records Inc., has a total runtime of 57 minutes and includes contributions from Ted Warren on drums. Despite a few programming issues noted by critics, "Time & Tide" remains a fine record that highlights Murley's prowess as a musician. The album is available on various platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Qobuz, and has been remastered for enhanced listening experience. Whether you're a longtime fan of Mike Murley or a newcomer to his work, "Time & Tide" is a compelling addition to any jazz collection.
