      Album Details

The Who's seventh studio album, 'The Who By Numbers', is a powerhouse record that showcases the band's ability to craft classic rock masterpieces. Released on 3 October 1975 through Polydor Records, this album marked a transitional period for the band, as they moved away from conceptual rock operas and focused on creating a more straightforward, yet equally impactful, collection of songs.

Produced by Glyn Johns, 'The Who By Numbers' features a mix of tracks that remain faithful to the band's classic sound, as well as some leftover gems from their earlier, abandoned projects, Lifehouse and Long Live Rock. The album's tracklist boasts an impressive array of songs, including 'Slip Kid', 'Squeeze Box', and 'Imagine A Man', which demonstrate The Who's knack for creating catchy, yet meaningful, rock music.

With its release, 'The Who By Numbers' reached the top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic, cementing The Who's status as one of the leading rock bands of the time. The album's unpretentious approach, compared to their earlier work, such as 'Quadrophenia', allows the listener to appreciate the band's raw talent and energy. 'The Who By Numbers' is a testament to The Who's ability to create enduring rock music that continues to resonate with fans to this day.
