      About Paula Robison

Paula Robison, born June 8, 1941, is a pioneering flute soloist and teacher who has redefined the flute as a solo instrument on an international scale. Hailing from a family of artists in Tennessee, she burst onto the scene in 1966 as the first American to win First Prize at the Geneva Competition. Known affectionately as "the first lady of the flute," Robison has been a dynamic ambassador for her instrument, performing with The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center for two decades and occupying an endowed teaching chair at the New England Conservatory. Her genre-spanning repertoire includes classical and chamber music, and her performances are celebrated for their virtuosity and expressive depth.
