Sir Malcolm Henry Arnold, a towering figure among British composers of the 20th century, was a versatile and prolific artist whose music spans a wide range of genres. Born in Northampton, England, in 1921, Arnold began his career as a trumpeter before turning his focus to composition. His works, which include nine symphonies, 17 concertos, and over 130 film scores, are celebrated for their tonal style, lively rhythms, and brilliant orchestration. Arnold's extensive output also includes chamber music, choral works, and compositions for brass and wind bands. He was particularly active in theater music, creating five ballets for the Royal Ballet, two operas, and a musical.
