      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the timeless artistry of Jacqueline du Pré with "The Great Cello Concertos: Dvořák, Schumann, Saint-Saëns, Elgar, Haydn...". This remarkable collection, released on July 10, 2024, by Warner Classics, showcases du Pré's unparalleled mastery of the cello through a stunning array of concertos by some of the most celebrated composers in classical music history.

Spanning over five hours, this extensive compilation features iconic works such as Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B Minor, Schumann's Cello Concerto in A Minor, Saint-Saëns' Cello Concerto No. 1 in A Minor, Elgar's deeply contemplative Cello Concerto in E Minor, and Haydn's elegant Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major. The album also includes lesser-known yet equally captivating pieces by composers like Boccherini, Delius, Lalo, Monn, and Strauss, offering a comprehensive journey through the rich tapestry of cello concertos.

Recorded with the New Philharmonia Orchestra, this album captures the essence of du Pré's extraordinary talent and her unique ability to convey profound emotion through her instrument. The remastered digital release, originally recorded in London in 1965, ensures that the sound quality is as pristine as the performances themselves.

Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is a testament to the enduring power of Jacqueline du Pré's artistry. Her interpretations of these timeless works are not just performances but profound expressions of the human spirit, making this collection an essential addition to any music lover's library.
