      Album Details

Dive into the raw and unfiltered world of avant-garde jazz with Peter Brötzmann's "The Damage Is Done," a captivating live album recorded at 'Alchemia' in Krakow. This double-disc set captures two complete, uncut performances from March 16, 2008, mixed and mastered in June 2009, and released on December 24, 2009, under the NotTwo label. Brötzmann, renowned for his powerful multi-reed work, is joined by an equally formidable lineup: trumpeter and reedist Joe McPhee, bassist Kent Kessler, and drummer Michael Zerang. Together, they deliver a relentless and intense free jazz experience that spans over an hour and forty-two minutes across six tracks. From the opening title track to the final descent into "Into the Hades," the album is a testament to the sheer power and spontaneity of collective improvisation. The gatefold cardboard sleeve houses this sonic journey, making it a standout addition to any jazz enthusiast's collection.
