      Album Details

Anne Akiko Meyers presents a captivating exploration of American violin concertos with her album released on eOne Music. This 53-minute journey through classical and Japanese classical genres showcases Meyers' virtuosity and versatility. The album features two iconic violin concertos: Samuel Barber's "Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 14" and Mason Bates' "Violin Concerto," both performed with the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Leonard Slatkin. The Barber concerto, a staple of the violin repertoire, is presented in three distinct movements: "Allegro," "Andante," and "Presto in moto perpetuo." Bates' concerto, a world premiere, offers a contemporary contrast with its three movements: "Archaeopteryx," "Lakebed Memories," and "The Rise of the Birds." Nestled between these concertos is John Corigliano's "Lullaby for Natalie," a poignant piece commissioned by Meyers' husband and also a world premiere. This album is a testament to Meyers' artistic prowess and her commitment to bringing new works to light, making it a compelling addition to any classical music collection.
