      Album Details

Immerse yourself in a rich tapestry of classical masterpieces with Alberto Lysy and the Camerata Lysy Gstaad in this captivating 1985 release. "Tchaikovsky, Bloch, K. Atterberg, Puccini & Wagner: Music for Strings" is a compelling collection of works that showcase the exquisite interplay of strings in a variety of moods and styles.

The album opens with Tchaikovsky's "Sextet for Strings in D Minor, Op. 70 'Souvenir de Florence,'" a four-movement piece that evokes the charm and nostalgia of Florence. The sextet's lively Allegro con spirito and the tender Adagio cantabile e con moto are particularly noteworthy. Bloch's "From Jewish Life" offers a poignant interlude, with the haunting "Prayer" for cello and strings standing out.

Kurt Atterberg's "Suite for Violin, Viola & Orchestra, Op. 19 No. 1" is a highlight, featuring three distinct movements that range from the contemplative Prélude to the lively Vision. Puccini's "Crisantemi" for strings provides a moment of melancholic beauty, while Wagner's "Wesendonck-Lieder: IV. Träume" and "Studie zu Tristan und Isolde" offer a glimpse into the composer's lyrical genius.

Throughout the album, Alberto Lysy's virtuosic playing and the Camerata Lysy Gstaad's impeccable ensemble work shine, making this a standout recording in the classical repertoire. With a duration of just over an hour, this album is a perfect companion for a relaxing evening or a focused listening session. Whether you're a seasoned classical enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album promises a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
