      Alan Skidmore is a renowned British jazz tenor saxophonist, born on 21 April 1942 in London, England. Following in his father Jimmy Skidmore's musical footsteps, Alan began his professional career at the young age of 16. Throughout the 1960s, he honed his skills playing with notable bands like John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and Ronnie Scott's group. With a career spanning over six decades, Alan has become a celebrated figure in the jazz and blues scenes, known for his virtuosic playing on the tenor and soprano saxophones, as well as his work on flutes and drums. His music, rooted in free jazz, continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
