      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of jazz with John Etheridge's "Sweet Chorus - a Tribute to Stephane Grappelli." Released on January 1, 1999, under Dyad Records, this 47-minute album is a heartfelt homage to the legendary violinist Stephane Grappelli. Etheridge, a virtuoso guitarist, masterfully interprets Grappelli's signature style, blending swing, gypsy jazz, and classical influences into a cohesive and captivating collection.

The album opens with "La Chanson De Rue - duo," setting the tone for a journey through timeless melodies and intricate harmonies. Etheridge's guitar work shines throughout, whether he's performing solo on tracks like "The Nearness of You" and "Isn't It Romantic" or collaborating with other musicians in trio and duo settings. The diverse instrumentation and dynamic arrangements keep the listener engaged, from the lively "Swing Guitars" to the tender "How Insensitive."

Etheridge's tribute is not just a technical showcase but also a celebration of Grappelli's musical legacy. Each track is a testament to the enduring appeal of Grappelli's compositions and arrangements. Whether you're a seasoned jazz enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, "Sweet Chorus" offers a rich and rewarding listening experience.
