      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the rich, evocative world of Josef Suk's symphonic poetry with this comprehensive collection, featuring four of his most significant works. This album showcases Suk's mastery of orchestral composition, offering a journey through his unique musical landscapes.

At the heart of the collection is "The Ripening," a sprawling symphonic poem that Suk composed over five years, from 1912 to 1917. This monumental work is a testament to Suk's ability to convey deep, complex emotions through music, with its intricate structure and rich harmonies. The album also includes "Praga," a symphonic poem that pays tribute to Suk's beloved hometown, and the enchanting "Fairy Tale" suite, drawn from his opera "Radúz a Mahulena." This suite is a delightful exploration of folk themes and storytelling, showcasing Suk's ability to blend traditional Czech music with his own unique voice.

The album is completed with "Epilog," a profound and introspective work that serves as a fitting conclusion to Suk's symphonic tetralogy. Throughout the album, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Libor Pešek, delivers powerful and nuanced performances, bringing Suk's music to life with clarity and passion.

This album is a treasure trove for fans of classical music, offering a deep dive into the works of one of the 20th century's most important composers. With a total runtime of over two hours, it's an album that rewards repeated listening, revealing new depths and nuances with each play. Whether you're a longtime fan of Suk's music or a newcomer to his work, this collection is sure to captivate and inspire.
