      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Josef Suk's "Suk: A Fairy Tale, Fantastic Scherzo," a captivating journey through the composer's evocative chamber music. Released in 2014, this album showcases Suk's mastery of storytelling through sound, with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Zdeněk Mácal bringing his compositions to life.

The centerpiece of the album is "Fairy Tale, Op. 16," a four-movement suite that weaves a tale of love, trials, and triumph. The narrative follows the constant love of Radúz and Mahulena, their challenges, and ultimate victory, all set to Suk's lush and expressive score. From the playful "Playing at Swans and Peacocks" to the dramatic "Runa’s Curse and How It Was Broken by True Love," each movement is a vivid musical painting.

Complementing the fairy tale is the "Fantastic Scherzo for Orchestra in G Minor, Op. 25," a work that showcases Suk's ability to blend lyricism and drama. This piece, with its intricate orchestration and dynamic shifts, is a testament to Suk's compositional prowess and his ability to captivate the listener.

With a duration of just over 41 minutes, this album is a perfect introduction to Suk's romantic and evocative style. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, "Suk: A Fairy Tale, Fantastic Scherzo" offers a rich and rewarding listening experience.
