      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the rich orchestral tapestry of Eugen Suchoň's "SUCHON: Metamorphosis / Suite Balladesque," a captivating journey through the works of one of Slovakia's most influential 20th-century composers. Released in 1992, this album showcases Suchoň's mastery of orchestral composition, blending folk influences with classical sophistication.

The album is divided into two main sections: "Metamorfózy (Metamorphosis)" and "Baladická suita (Balladic Suite), Op. 9." The first section, "Metamorphosis," is a five-movement orchestral work that explores a range of emotions and moods, from the contemplative "Andante con moto" to the fierce energy of "Allegro feroce." The second section, "Balladic Suite," is a four-movement suite that similarly showcases Suchoň's ability to craft compelling narratives through music.

Throughout the album, the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Zdeněk Košler, brings Suchoň's compositions to life with precision and passion. The result is a 54-minute listening experience that is both intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant.

Eugen Suchoň, born in 1908, was a prolific composer who worked in a variety of genres, including operas, ballets, and orchestral works. His music often drew on Slovak folk traditions, infusing them with a modernist sensibility that was uniquely his own. "SUCHON: Metamorphosis / Suite Balladesque" is a testament to Suchoň's enduring legacy and a must-listen for anyone interested in 20th-century classical music.
