      Album Details

Eugen Suchoň, a pivotal figure in 20th-century Slovak music, invites you into his profound compositional world with "Suchon: Krutnava." Released in 2000, this monumental work is a six-part orchestral suite that spans nearly two hours, showcasing Suchoň's mastery of symphonic form and his deep connection to Slovak musical heritage.

"Krutnava," meaning "Whirlpool," is a dramatic and evocative journey through a series of interconnected musical movements. Each act builds upon the last, creating a cohesive and immersive experience. The suite is performed by the Slovak Philharmonic, with notable vocal contributions from Tibor Freso, Nina Hazuchova, Olga Hanakova, Ondrej Malachovsky, and Milan Kopacka.

Suchoň's compositional style blends Slovak folk influences with modernist techniques, resulting in a sound that is both distinctly national and universally resonant. "Krutnava" is a testament to his ability to convey complex emotions and narratives through music, making it a compelling exploration of his artistic vision.

This album is a must-listen for those interested in Eastern European classical music, offering a rich and rewarding experience that highlights the depth and breadth of Suchoň's contributions to the genre.
