      About Josef Strauss

Josef Strauss, born into the illustrious Strauss musical dynasty in Vienna, was a prolific Austrian composer known for his vibrant and lively compositions. The son of Johann Strauss Sr. and brother to the renowned Johann Strauss Jr., Josef carved out his own niche in the music world with over 300 original dances and marches, and nearly 500 arrangements of other composers' works. His polkas, in particular, are celebrated for their infectious energy and rhythmic complexity. Initially pursuing engineering, Josef turned to composition full-time in 1856, creating a rich body of work that continues to captivate audiences today. His contributions to the waltz and polka genres are a testament to his enduring musical legacy.
