      About Sussan Deyhim

      Sussan Deyhim is an Iranian-American composer, vocalist, and performance artist renowned for her unique sonic and vocal language, which is deeply imbued with a sense of ritual and the unknown. Born in Iran in 1958, Deyhim began her artistic journey at the age of thirteen as a member of the national ballet company. Her work transcends traditional boundaries, blending elements of Persian poetry, Sufi mysticism, and contemporary performance art. Deyhim's compositions often draw from the poetry of Rumi, Hafez, and Forough Farrokhzad, creating a rich tapestry of sound and meaning. She has collaborated extensively with composer Richard Horowitz, producing acclaimed works such as "The Invisible Road" and "Desert Equations: Azax Attra." Her performances and installations, including "The House is Black Media Project" and the upcoming "Forbidden Echoes," are celebrated for their emotional depth and innovative approach.
