      About Zubin Mehta

      Zubin Mehta, born in 1936 in the vibrant city of Bombay (now Mumbai), is a renowned Indian conductor of Western classical music, celebrated for his expressive and dynamic performances. His musical journey began under the tutelage of his father, Mehli Mehta, a distinguished violinist and the founder of the Bombay Symphony. Mehta's career took off with his American debut in 1960, and he went on to serve as the music director of several prestigious orchestras, including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and notably, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, where he holds the title of music director emeritus. His extensive repertoire spans opera and classical genres, making him a beloved figure in the world of classical music.
