      About Zara Nelsova

      Zara Nelsova, born Sara Nelson, was a celebrated cellist whose life was a testament to her extraordinary musical journey. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, in 1918, Nelsova came from a distinguished Russian musical family. By the age of nine, she had already demonstrated prodigious talent, moving to London with her family and later becoming a citizen of the USA. Known as the "Queen of the Cello" in the 1950s, Nelsova captivated audiences with her perfect intensity and passion, producing an unbroken phrase in shimmering gold. Her performances with the London Symphony Orchestra and other ensembles solidified her status as a renowned classical musician. Throughout her career, Nelsova's performances were marked by a heroic battle with cancer, but her legacy endures as a beacon of artistic excellence.
