      About Shivkumar Sharma

      Shivkumar Sharma, the virtuoso Indian classical musician and santoor player, revolutionized Indian music by adapting the santoor for classical compositions. Born on January 13, 1938, in Jammu, India, Sharma began his musical journey as a singer and tabla player, performing on local radio by the age of 12. His innovative spirit and mastery of the santoor earned him global acclaim, with a Spotify following of 48.9K monthly listeners. Collaborating with flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia as the duo Shiv-Hari, Sharma composed enchanting scores for iconic films like "Faasle," "Chandni," and "Lamhe." Until his passing on May 10, 2022, Sharma remained a beloved figure in Indian music, celebrated for his instrumental prowess and enduring contributions to the art form.
