      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Gerard Schurmann's "Churmann: Chamber Music, Vol. 2," a remarkable collection of chamber works that showcases the composer's versatility and depth. Released on April 29, 2014, under the Toccata Classics label, this album spans a total of 1 hour and 5 minutes, featuring 12 tracks that blend intricate compositions and profound musical storytelling.

The album is a testament to Schurmann's mastery of chamber music, featuring two complete string quartets, a trio for clarinet, cello, and piano, and a solo fantasia for cello and piano. Each piece is performed with exquisite precision and passion by an ensemble of renowned musicians, including Clive Greensmith on cello, Håkan Rosengren on clarinet, Mikhail Korzhev on piano, and The Lyris Quartet.

From the hauntingly beautiful "Adagio molto cantabile" of the String Quartet No. 1 to the lively "Allegro vivace" of the same quartet, Schurmann's compositions take the listener on a journey through a range of emotions and musical landscapes. The trio for clarinet, cello, and piano offers a delightful contrast with its playful "Largo - Allegro" and the serene "Andante cantabile." The Fantasia for Cello and Piano adds a touch of introspection and depth to the collection.

This album is not just a compilation of Schurmann's works but a celebration of his unique voice in the world of classical music. Whether you are a longtime fan of Schurmann or a newcomer to his music, "Churmann: Chamber Music, Vol. 2" offers a rich and rewarding listening experience that highlights the beauty and complexity of chamber music.
