      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the rich, intricate world of Franz Schmidt's organ music with this captivating album, released on January 1, 2005, under the Ars Produktion label. Spanning a duration of 1 hour and 13 minutes, this chamber music collection is a testament to Schmidt's mastery of the organ and his ability to create profound, evocative compositions.

The album is divided into three distinct sections, each showcasing Schmidt's unique musical voice. The first section features the "4 Kleine Choralvorspiele," a set of four short preludes based on Lutheran chorales. Each piece is a miniature masterpiece, offering a glimpse into Schmidt's ability to distill complex emotions into concise, powerful statements.

The second section is dedicated to the "Variationen und Fuge uber ein eigenes Thema," a set of variations and a fugue based on an original theme by Schmidt. This piece is a tour de force, demonstrating Schmidt's contrapuntal skill and his ability to develop a single musical idea into a rich, multi-faceted whole.

The final section of the album is devoted to the "Chaconne in C-Sharp Minor," a monumental work that showcases Schmidt's ability to blend various musical styles and forms. The piece is divided into four sections, each named after a different ancient Greek mode: Aeolian, Lydian, Dorian, and Ionian. The final section, "Jonisch und Coda," brings the piece to a triumphant close.

Throughout the album, Schmidt's music is characterized by its lyrical melodies, harmonic richness, and rhythmic vitality. Whether you're a seasoned fan of chamber music or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.
