      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of classical violin mastery with "Sarasate Violin Favorites," a stunning compilation of works by the renowned Pablo de Sarasate. Released in 2011 by Music and Arts Programs of America, this album is a testament to Sarasate's virtuosic compositions and timeless appeal. Spanning a little over an hour, the 10-track collection showcases some of Sarasate's most beloved pieces, performed with exquisite skill and passion.

The album opens with the fiery "Caprice basque, Op. 24," setting the stage for a journey through Sarasate's rich musical landscape. Highlights include the evocative "Zigeunerweisen, Op. 20," a three-movement work that blends Gypsy melodies with classical sophistication, and the enchanting "Spanish Dances," a series of pieces that capture the essence of Spanish folk music. The album also features the dramatic "Carmen Fantasy, Op. 25," a dazzling display of technical prowess inspired by Bizet's famous opera.

Performed by the acclaimed violinist Charles Castleman, with Barbara Lister-Sink on piano, this album is a celebration of Sarasate's enduring legacy. Castleman's impeccable technique and deep expressive range bring these works to life, offering both seasoned classical enthusiasts and newcomers a chance to appreciate the brilliance of Sarasate's compositions. Whether you're drawn to the fiery passion of the Spanish dances or the lyrical beauty of "Romanza andaluza," "Sarasate Violin Favorites" is a captivating exploration of one of the violin's most influential composers.
