      Sandhills Reunion - Jerry Granelli

      Album Details

Jerry Granelli's "Sandhills Reunion," released in 2005 under the Songlines label, is a captivating blend of modern blues and jazz, spanning 48 minutes across 12 tracks. This album is a unique collaboration, featuring the evocative vocals of Rinde Eckert, who contributes poetic lyrics that intertwine seamlessly with Granelli's musical compositions. The instrumentation is rich and varied, with contributions from Francois Houle on clarinet, Jeff Reilly on bass clarinet, David Mott on baritone sax, and Cristoph Both on cello, among others.

"Sandhills Reunion" is more than just a collection of songs; it's an audio narrative, a play that unfolds through a series of interconnected pieces. Each track, from the haunting "Like a Ghost in The Grass" to the introspective "Never to See You," tells a part of a larger story, creating a cohesive and immersive experience. Granelli's drumming and use of samplers add a layer of depth and texture, making the album a dynamic journey through sound and word.

The album's design, crafted by Chris Pew and Gwen Terpstra, complements the music and lyrics, enhancing the overall aesthetic. Mastered by Calbi / Fallone, the sound quality is crisp and clear, allowing every nuance of the performance to shine through. Whether you're a fan of modern blues, jazz, or experimental audio narratives, "Sandhills Reunion" offers a rich and rewarding listening experience.
