      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of chamber music with André Navarra's exquisite album, "Saint-Saens: Les 2 sonates pour violoncelle et piano." Released on April 1, 2011, under the Phaia Music label, this album is a testament to Navarra's mastery of the cello and his profound interpretation of Camille Saint-Saëns' sonatas. Spanning a duration of 1 hour and 14 minutes, the album features 15 tracks that beautifully showcase the intricate interplay between the cello and piano.

The album begins with the Cello Sonata No. 2 in F Major, Op. 123, a piece that is both majestic and tranquil, followed by a lively Scherzo con variazioni. The Romanza and the final Allegro non troppo grazioso complete this sonata, offering a rich tapestry of emotions and technical brilliance. The second half of the album is dedicated to the Cello Sonata No. 1 in C Minor, Op. 32, which includes an Allegro, an Andante tranquillo sostenuto, and an Allegro moderato, each movement showcasing Navarra's virtuosic skill and expressive depth.

In addition to the sonatas, the album also includes a collection of traditional pieces, each evoking the essence of Japanese culture and nature. These tracks, such as "Natsu-no-ainaide (Souvenirs d'été)" and "Marusato (Mon pays)," add a unique and enchanting dimension to the album, making it a diverse and engaging listen.

André Navarra's performance is accompanied by the talented pianist Annie d'Arco, creating a harmonious blend of sound that highlights the beauty and complexity of Saint-Saëns' compositions. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album offers a rich and rewarding listening experience that celebrates the timeless elegance of chamber music.
