      Album Details

Poul Ruders' "Solar Trilogy," released in 1997 under the Dacapo label, is a captivating exploration of traditional folk genres, presented in a unique and engaging format. This album is a journey through three distinct movements: "Gong," "Zenith," and "Corona," each offering a unique auditory experience. The first movement, "Gong," is a dynamic and rhythmic piece that builds from a gentle throb to a powerful, blinding crescendo. "Zenith" provides a moment of calm and introspection with its gentle "Dawning" theme. The final movement, "Corona," returns to intensity with its "Sizzling" and "Piercing" motifs, culminating in a majestic finale.

Recorded between November 6-8, 1996, at the Odense Concert Hall, the album features the Odense Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Michael Schønwandt. The performances are brought to life with a playing time of 67 minutes and 11 seconds, accompanied by a 16-page booklet containing notes in English, German, and Danish.

"Solar Trilogy" is a testament to Poul Ruders' compositional prowess, offering a rich and immersive listening experience that showcases the beauty and power of traditional folk music. The album's intricate details and dynamic range make it a standout work in Ruders' discography and a compelling addition to any music collection.
