Rubinstein: Symphony No. 1 / Ivan the Terrible - Anton Rubinstein

      Album Details

Dive into the rich musical heritage of Anton Rubinstein with this captivating album, featuring two of his most notable works. The Symphony No. 1 in F Major, Op. 40, composed in 1850, showcases Rubinstein's early mastery of the symphonic form, blending Romantic passion with classical structure. The four movements, from the fiery "Allegro con fuoco" to the lively "Allegro," are performed with precision and fervor by the Slovak State Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Róbert Stankovský.

Complementing the symphony is Rubinstein's dramatic musical portrait, "Ivan the Terrible," Op. 79. Inspired by Lev Alexandrovich Mey's play, this work captures the essence of the 16th-century Tsar, offering a vivid and intense musical narrative. The orchestration and performance bring to life the complexities and intensity of the historical figure, providing a compelling contrast to the symphony.

Recorded in 2001 and released under the Naxos label, this album spans a duration of approximately one hour, offering a comprehensive exploration of Rubinstein's compositional prowess. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to Rubinstein's work, this album promises an engaging and enriching listening experience.
