      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Anton Rubinstein's chamber music with the release of "Rubinstein: String Quartets, Op. 47 Nos. 1 & 3." This exquisite album, released on January 8, 2021, under the CPO label, showcases two of Rubinstein's most compelling string quartets, performed with finesse by the Reinhold Quartet.

The album features two complete string quartets: the String Quartet No. 4 in E Minor, Op. 47 No. 1, and the String Quartet No. 6 in D Minor, Op. 47 No. 3. Each quartet is a masterclass in composition, blending intricate motivic development with dynamic contrasts. The quartets are subtly linked motivically yet distinct in their design, offering a rich tapestry of musical exploration.

The String Quartet No. 4 in E Minor opens with a Moderato con moto, setting a contemplative tone that evolves through the Allegro non troppo, Andante con moto, and concludes with a vibrant Allegro assai. The String Quartet No. 6 in D Minor begins with an Adagio molto that transitions into an Allegro, followed by a Moderato con moto and a serene Adagio molto, culminating in a Moderato finale.

Anton Rubinstein, a prolific composer and pianist of the 19th century, brings his unique perspective to these quartets, blending elements of orchestral might with the intimacy of chamber music. The Reinhold Quartet's performance captures the essence of Rubinstein's vision, delivering a nuanced and powerful interpretation that highlights the depth and complexity of these works.

With a total duration of approximately one hour, this album is a testament to Rubinstein's enduring legacy and the timeless appeal of his music. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, "Rubinstein: String Quartets, Op. 47 Nos. 1 & 3" promises an enriching and enjoyable listening experience.
