      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Anton Rubinstein's "Rubinstein: Don Quixote - Ivan IV," a remarkable album released on January 29, 2013, under the Delos label. This collection showcases Rubinstein's extraordinary ability to paint vivid musical portraits through his two "symphonic pictures": "Don Quixote, Op. 87" and "Ivan IV the Terrible, Op. 79."

The Russian State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Igor Golovschin, brings these compositions to life with performances that have been critically acclaimed as some of the best interpretations of Rubinstein's works. The album spans a total of 51 minutes, offering a concise yet profound exploration of these iconic characters.

"Don Quixote" captures the essence of Miguel de Cervantes' legendary knight, with Rubinstein's music evoking the chivalry, idealism, and occasional madness of the titular character. In contrast, "Ivan IV the Terrible" delves into the complex and tumultuous reign of the Russian tsar, portraying both his ruthlessness and his moments of vulnerability.

This album is a testament to Rubinstein's mastery of orchestration and his deep understanding of the human condition. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, "Rubinstein: Don Quixote - Ivan IV" promises a rich and rewarding listening experience.
