      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Guy Ropartz's chamber music with this captivating album, released on April 1, 2014, under the Timpani label. This collection showcases three distinct works, each offering a unique blend of elegance and intensity, performed by renowned musicians Nicolas Dautricourt on violin, Juliette Hurel on flute, and Francois Kerdoncuff on cello.

The album opens with Ropartz's Violin Sonata No. 2 in E Major, a four-movement masterpiece that spans over 32 minutes. The sonata is a journey through varying tempos and moods, from the moderately animated first movement to the lively second, the slow and contemplative third, and the animated finale. This sonata is a testament to Ropartz's ability to craft intricate and expressive works for the violin.

Following the sonata, the Sonatine for Flute and Piano takes center stage. Comprising three movements, this shorter piece is a delightful interlude, showcasing the flute's versatility and the piano's supportive role. The sonatine's duration of approximately 14 minutes makes it a perfect palate cleanser before the final work on the album.

The Cello Sonata No. 2 in A Minor concludes the album with a powerful three-movement performance. This sonata, lasting around 23 minutes, is known for its disarming approach to slow movements and its overall vitality and excitement. Raphael Pidoux's performance on the cello brings out the depth and richness of Ropartz's composition, making it a standout piece in the album.

With a total duration of 1 hour and 10 minutes, this album is a comprehensive exploration of Ropartz's chamber music repertoire. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer looking to explore the genre, this album offers a rewarding listening experience that highlights the beauty and complexity of Ropartz's works.
