      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the rich, resonant world of Alessandro Rolla's "Rolla: Viola Concertos/Concerto in E flat, Op. 3/Divertimento in F/". Released in 1995 under the Decca Music Group Ltd. label, this instrumental album is a testament to Rolla's virtuosity and the timeless appeal of classical music. The album spans a generous 8 tracks, with a total duration of 1 hour and 1 minute, offering a comprehensive exploration of Rolla's compositions for viola and strings.

The album opens with the Viola Concerto in E flat, Op. 3, a three-movement work that showcases Rolla's mastery of the concerto form. The first movement, "Andante sostenuto - Allegro," sets the stage with its slow, sustained introduction that builds into a lively allegro. The second movement, "Largo," provides a moment of introspection, while the third movement, "Allegro," brings the concerto to a thrilling close. The Divertimento in F for Viola and Strings, revised by Franco Sciannameo, adds a playful contrast to the concerto's grandeur. The Concertino in E flat for Viola and Strings, revised by Massimo Paris, is another highlight, featuring a polonaise in its third movement that is both elegant and lively.

Performed by I Musici with Massimo Paris on viola, this album is a celebration of the viola's expressive range and Rolla's compositional brilliance. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album offers a rewarding listening experience that highlights the beauty and depth of Rolla's music.
