      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Alessandro Rolla, a virtuoso of the early 19th century, with the album "Rolla: Duets - Caprices." This captivating collection, released in 2001 by Dynamic, showcases Rolla's mastery of the flute and violin duo form, as well as his prowess in viola caprices. The album features a total of 16 tracks, spanning a total duration of 1 hour and 11 minutes, each piece a testament to Rolla's compositional brilliance and technical prowess.

The album opens with a series of duets for flute and violin, including the elegant "Duet for flute and violin, BI 247: I. Andante sostenuto" and the lively "Duet for flute and violin, BI 247: II. Allegretto." These pieces are performed by the talented duo of Mario Carbotta on flute and Luigi Alberto Bianchi on violin, who bring Rolla's compositions to life with their exquisite musicianship.

Following the duets, the album transitions into a set of three caprices for viola, titled "3 Esercizi (Capricci) for Viola, BI 311, 313, 314." These pieces, performed by Luigi Alberto Bianchi, showcase Rolla's ability to create intricate and virtuosic works for the viola, a lesser-explored instrument in the classical repertoire.

The album concludes with a final set of duets for flute and violin, including the graceful "Duet for flute and violin, BI 255: I. Andante sostenuto" and the spirited "Duet for flute and violin, BI 255: II. Rondo alla polacca." These pieces, like the others on the album, demonstrate Rolla's ability to blend technical complexity with melodic beauty, creating works that are both challenging and deeply satisfying to listen to.

"Rolla: Duets - Caprices" is a must-listen for any fan of classical music, offering a unique insight into the world of Alessandro Rolla and his contributions to the flute, violin, and viola repertoire. Whether you're a seasoned classical aficionado or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.
