      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of classical guitar with Göran Söllscher's exquisite album, "Rodrigo: Concierto de Aranjuez / Albeniz / Barrios / Villa-Lobos." Released in 2003 under the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon label, this album is a testament to Söllscher's mastery and the timeless appeal of these iconic compositions.

The album kicks off with Joaquín Rodrigo's renowned "Concierto de Aranjuez," a piece that showcases Söllscher's technical prowess and expressive depth. The three movements—"Allegro con spirito," "Adagio," and "Allegro gentile"—are performed with a sensitivity that brings out the rich textures and melodic beauty of Rodrigo's score.

Beyond Rodrigo, Söllscher delves into the works of other Spanish and Latin American masters. Isaac Albéniz's "Sonata In C Op. 15b" and "Granada Op. 47, No. 1" are rendered with a sense of rhythm and color that captures the essence of Spanish folklore. Agustín Barrios Mangoré's "La Catedral" and "Toriija" highlight Söllscher's ability to convey both the grandeur and intimacy of these compositions.

The album also features works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, including his "5 Preludes, W419," which demonstrate Söllscher's versatility and command of the guitar's expressive range. The inclusion of traditional Cuban themes, such as "2 temas populares cubanos: Canción de cuna (Berceuse)," adds a delightful touch of cultural diversity to the collection.

Throughout the album, Söllscher is accompanied by the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, whose nuanced playing complements his guitar work beautifully. The result is a cohesive and captivating musical experience that spans a variety of styles and influences.

With a total duration of 1 hour and 9 minutes, this album offers a rich and rewarding listening experience. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, Göran Söllscher's "Rodrigo: Concierto de Aranjuez / Albeniz / Barrios / Villa-Lobos" is sure to captivate and inspire.
