      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Spanish classical guitar music with Joaquín Rodrigo's captivating album, released on April 1, 1987, under the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon label. This exquisite collection showcases Rodrigo's mastery of the guitar, blending traditional Spanish flavors with modern classical elegance.

The album opens with the enchanting "Invocación y danza," a piece that sets the stage for the musical journey ahead. It continues with the pastoral charm of "Ya se van los pastores" and the rhythmic allure of "Por caminos de Santiago." The heart of the album lies in the "Tres piezas españolas," featuring the fiery "Fandango," the contemplative "Passacaglia," and the lively "Zapateado." Each piece is a testament to Rodrigo's ability to evoke the spirit of Spain through his compositions.

The album also includes the playful "Sonata giocosa," a three-movement work that showcases Rodrigo's versatility and wit. The sonata's "Allegro moderato" and "Andante moderato" movements are particularly noteworthy for their melodic beauty and technical brilliance. The album concludes with the serene "Junto al Generalife" and the evocative "Entre olivares," leaving the listener with a sense of tranquility and satisfaction.

Joaquín Rodrigo, a prolific composer and a key figure in 20th-century Spanish music, dedicated many of his works to the legendary guitarist Andrés Segovia. This album is no exception, as it includes pieces that were either inspired by or dedicated to Segovia, highlighting the collaborative spirit between composer and performer.

With a duration of 57 minutes, this album offers a comprehensive exploration of Rodrigo's guitar repertoire, making it a valuable addition to any classical music enthusiast's collection. Whether you are a seasoned aficionado or a newcomer to classical guitar music, this album promises a delightful and enriching listening experience.
