      Album Details

Roberto Sierra's 2016 album, "Sinfonía No. 3 'La Salsa', Borikén, El Baile & Beyond the Silence of Sorrow," is a captivating journey through the rich musical landscapes crafted by this acclaimed composer. With a runtime of 1 hour and 14 minutes, this album is a testament to Sierra's ability to blend diverse influences into a cohesive and engaging symphonic experience.

The album opens with "Sinfonía No. 3 'La Salsa'," a four-movement work that masterfully incorporates elements of Afro-Caribbean rhythms and classical symphonic traditions. Each movement, from the lively "Tumbao" to the celebratory "Jolgorio," showcases Sierra's unique ability to fuse different musical styles into a harmonious whole.

Following the symphony, the album presents "Borikén," a piece inspired by the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Puerto Rico. This work is a poignant tribute to Sierra's roots, offering a deep and resonant exploration of his cultural identity.

The final part of the album, "Beyond the Silence of Sorrow," is a six-movement suite that delves into themes of love, loss, and hope. Each movement, from the introspective "Prayer to the Land" to the tender "Little Newborn," reveals Sierra's emotional depth and compositional skill.

Performed by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico under the direction of Maximiano Valdés and featuring Martha Guth, this album is a stunning showcase of Roberto Sierra's musical genius. Whether you're a longtime fan of classical music or a newcomer looking to explore the genre, this album offers a rich and rewarding listening experience.
