      Album Details

Dive into the rich tapestry of Roberto Sierra's latest album, a captivating blend of ancient and modern Latin American influences. Released on May 22, 2020, under the prestigious Naxos label, this album showcases Sierra's unique compositional voice, seamlessly weaving contemporary musical techniques with his Puerto Rican heritage.

The album opens with "Cantares," a four-movement work that draws from traditional Latin American melodies and rhythms, performed by a chorus and orchestra. The first movement, "Hanacpachap cussicuinin," is a beautiful arrangement of a traditional Peruvian hymn, while the third movement, "Interludio," offers a moment of reflection with its delicate orchestration. The final movement, "Suerte lamentosa," brings the work to a powerful close.

Next, "Loíza" for orchestra, pays homage to the Afro-Puerto Rican community of Loíza Aldea, capturing the spirit and energy of its people through vibrant rhythms and lush harmonies.

The album culminates with the exhilarating "Triple Concierto" for violin, cello, piano, and orchestra. This virtuosic work transforms popular Caribbean rhythms of salsa, bolero, and merengue into complex contemporary expressions, showcasing Sierra's mastery of both traditional and modern musical languages. The concerto's three movements, "Enérgico," "Tiempo de bolero," and "Veloz, con aire de merengue," offer a thrilling journey through the diverse musical landscape of the Caribbean.

With a duration of approximately 62 minutes, this album is a testament to Roberto Sierra's unique voice and his ability to bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary music. Whether you're a fan of classical music, Latin American rhythms, or simply appreciate innovative composition, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.
