      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the rich, baroque elegance of the Mannheim School with Aurèle Nicolet's masterful rendition of "Richter / Stamitz / Filtz / Cannabich: Concertos of the Mannheim School." This 1980 release on Deutsche Grammophon is a testament to the virtuosity of flutist Aurèle Nicolet, accompanied by the Camerata Bern under the direction of Thomas Füri.

The album is a collection of concertos by four prominent composers of the Mannheim School: Franz Xaver Richter, Johann Wenzel Anton Stamitz, Anton Filtz, and Christian Cannabich. Each concerto is a showcase of the composers' unique styles and Nicolet's exceptional skill, with pieces ranging from the lively "Allegro moderato" to the serene "Adagio."

The album spans a total of ten tracks, with a duration of one hour and five minutes, offering a comprehensive exploration of the Mannheim School's contributions to classical music. The concertos feature a variety of instruments, including flute, violin, and violoncello, each accompanied by a string orchestra, creating a harmonious blend of sounds that is both intricate and captivating.

Nicolet's performance is complemented by the skilled ensemble of Camerata Bern, with notable contributions from Thomas Demenga on violoncello, Heinz Holliger on oboe, and Jörg Ewald on harpsichord. The album is a celebration of the Mannheim School's innovative spirit and Nicolet's artistic prowess, making it a valuable addition to any classical music collection.
