      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the rich, evocative world of Ottorino Respighi with this captivating album, featuring three of his most enchanting works. The centerpiece is "Metamorphoseon, P. 169," a twelve-movement suite that showcases Respighi's mastery of orchestration and his unique ability to blend classical forms with modern sensibilities. Each "Modus" offers a distinct atmosphere, from the contemplative "Andante moderato" to the exhilarating "Molto allegro."

Complementing this is the whimsical "Ballata delle gnomidi, P. 124," a delightful piece that brings to life the playful antics of gnomes in a magical, otherworldly setting. The album concludes with "Belkis, Regina di Saba, P. 177," a four-movement suite inspired by the biblical story of the Queen of Sheba. This work is a vivid musical narrative, filled with vivid imagery and dramatic contrasts.

Recorded by the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège under the baton of John Neschling, this album offers a rich, immersive experience of Respighi's neoclassical style. The performances are vivid and expressive, bringing out the full depth and color of Respighi's orchestration. Whether you're a longtime fan of Respighi or a newcomer to his music, this album is a wonderful introduction to his unique voice and enduring appeal. The album was released on August 7, 2015, by BIS Records and spans a duration of 1 hour and 12 minutes.
