      Album Details

Immerse yourself in the dramatic and symphonic world of Ottorino Respighi with his captivating opera, "Maria Egiziaca." This single-act opera, divided into three intense episodes, is a testament to Respighi's mastery of orchestration and his ability to create deeply evocative musical narratives. Originally conceived as a concert triptych, "Maria Egiziaca" tells the story of Saint Mary of Egypt, bringing to life her journey of redemption and spiritual awakening through powerful music and a compelling libretto by Claudio Guastalla.

Recorded in 2015, this album features the Hungarian Radio and Television Chorus and the Hungarian State Orchestra, conducted by Lamberto Gardelli, delivering a performance that is both historically informed and passionately expressive. The opera's rich orchestration and dramatic intensity are brought to the forefront, making it a standout piece in Respighi's repertoire. With a duration of 1 hour and 10 minutes, this album offers a comprehensive exploration of Respighi's unique musical language and his ability to blend classical traditions with innovative compositional techniques.

"Maria Egiziaca" is not just an opera; it is a profound exploration of faith, redemption, and the human condition. Each episode is carefully crafted to build tension and drama, culminating in a powerful and moving conclusion. Whether you are a fan of classical opera, neoclassical music, or simply appreciate beautifully composed music, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.
